Why Test Microwave Leakage?
Although no longer required under the latest IET Code, leakage testing remains a valuable safety check—especially in busy, commercial, or communal environments
Microwave ovens can leak electromagnetic radiation if:
- The door seal becomes damaged or warped
- Hinges and latches stop closing properly
- The oven is old or has been dropped
Our testing helps catch these issues before they become a concern.
What We Do
- Load with water – We run your microwave with a small amount of water inside. This mimics normal use and protects the magnetron.
- Scan for emissions – Using a calibrated leakage detector, we check the door edges, seals, and gaps for radiation levels.
- Functional safety test – We ensure the microwave stops immediately when the door is opened, which is a vital safety feature.
- Pass/Fail results – Everything is recorded on a clear, branded label and digitally logged. If emissions are within safe limits, you get a Pass sticker. If not, the appliance is marked Fail, unplugged, and flagged for servicing or replacement.
When Should you test?
We recommend Microwave Emission Testing if:

✅ The microwave looks worn or the door doesn’t seal properly
✅ You use it frequently or rely on it for business operations
For occasional domestic use, regular visual checks may be enough. But in high‑use settings, an annual or bi‑annual leak test gives better peace of mind.
